It’s Wednesday, and that means that Sarah goes to art class today!
Ms. Contrapposto, her very creative art teacher, explains how lines can communicate feelings. Lines can tell us that they are excited, tired, or even sad!
After school in their art club, Sarah and her friends create artwork using different types of lines in their individual styles.
This book is perfect for art teachers and parents to explain how expressive lines can be.

Reviews:
“This book does a great job describing something that is so mundane that it might be difficult to talk about. Everyone just kinda knows what a line is, but when asked to talk about it, can’t really give an answer. This book gives a fairly thorough response to that question. It does a great job of discussing line direction, and even gives many examples of how one can make lines – different ways to draw them on paper, but also how to craft them out of materials either two-dimensionally or sculpturally. I love that there are actualt examples of line used in art, there’s a glossary at the end, and there is even a song that can be found on YouTube to sing along with. The only improvement I can think of is that there’s not many examples of line quality. However, I love the bits about persepective, countour line drawings, and the implied line. Overall, this is a nice book that is good for anyone delving into art and wants an easy-to-understand starting point for understanding and creating line.”
“My daughter is 4 and absolutely loved her last book, “I Heard You Can Draw!” I’ve read it to her so many times my daughter has it memorized :). So, I bought this new book to add to the collection and it’s an instant classic in our house! I really love the artistry and poetry.”
“Darling book! Such clever prose and the illustrations are joyful! Kids will want to hear it, or read it themselves, over and over! Highly recommend!”
“Wow! This book is a treasure trove for teachers! It goes way farther than just introducing and giving examples of various lines. It also connects the different lines to what emotions they would look like adding an opportunity for movement when you are reading it. This book is chock full of art vocabulary and is written in a fun and entertaining rhyme. I love how the author also uses examples of real artwork to provide another visual representation of the different lines. So much in this book!”
